Little River WMA encompasses 1,505 acres of state-owned property. This area was formerly owned by the Georgia Dept. of Transportation and early in 2024 changed to GA DNR ownership. The tract was formerly named “The Cedar Creek —Little River Area” but after the change in ownership the name was simplified to lessen confusion. Little River has been in the WMA system since the 2011-2012 hunting season.  The major water body includes Little River. The major access roads are Lynchburg Road and Martin Mill Road. No Camping is allowed.

The Cochrans Creek Voluntary Public Access (VPA) area is a 2,507-acre property located near Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawson County, GA. Opportunities for hunting include deer, bear, turkey, and small game.

Voluntary Public Access Area 

Cochrans Creek VPA is a Voluntary Public Access (VPA) property. Since 2014, the Wildlife Resources Division has been able to enhance and add to its WMA program through additional temporary agreements with private landowners for public hunting opportunities thanks to a USDA grant.

Effective immediately, Charles B. Henson VPA will no longer be enrolled in the Voluntary Public Access program. As of 6/20/2024, the property is no longer available for public access.

Tallulah Gorge WMA is mostly forested with rolling to steep hills. The Gorge itself and the Tallulah River roughly bisect the property. The eastern and southeastern portion of the WMA is border by Lake Tugaloo and the South Carolina state line. Daily on-site sign-in is required. This is a WMA Lands Pass area, but a Park Pass will suffice for the Lands Pass requirement. All hunters and anglers must be appropriately licensed.

The VPA Tracts total 3,134 acres and are managed as part of Chattahoochee Fall Line WMA. These tracts offers archery hunting opportunities for deer. Turkey and small game may be hunted with all legal weapons. No ATVs or horses.

The Fort Perry Tract is a 2,100-acre property part of Chattahoochee Fall Line WMA. It offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game, dove and quail. No ATVs. No horses. Bicycles allowed only for the purposes of providing hunter access. Check kiosk daily for prescribed burning schedule and location.

The Blackjack Crossing Area is a 1,600-acre property part of Chattahoochee Fall Line WMA. It offers archery-only hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, and small game. No ATVs. No horses. Check kiosk daily for prescribed burning schedule and location.

The Almo Tract is a 6,700-acre property part of Chattahoochee Fall Line WMA complex. The Almo Tract offers hunting opportunities for buck, turkey, small game and quail. No ATVs. No horses. Check kiosk daily for prescribed burning schedule and location.

Treat Mountain VPA is a 5,087-acre property located between Cedartown and Tallapoosa. Opportunities include hunting for deer, turkey and small game. See regulations for details. No ATVs or camping allowed. Hunters utilizing this area for deer or turkey hunting should be sure to check their game using Georgia Game Check and select Public Land option, Polk County, and then Treat Mountain VPA.

Tallapoosa River VPA is a 3,053-acre property located between Cedartown and Buchanan. Hunting opportunities include deer, turkey (for youth only) and small game. See regulations for details. No ATVs or camping allowed. Hunters utilizing this area for deer or turkey hunting should be sure to check their game using Georgia Game Check and select Public Land option, Polk County, and then Tallapoosa River VPA.
