The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) announced today the appointment of Clint Peacock to WRD Chief of Fisheries.
Peacock is a 15-year employee of the division, most recently serving as Assistant Chief of the Fisheries Management Section.
As chief, Peacock’s responsibilities will include coordinating and managing the statewide fisheries program, development of fisheries management budget, and supervision of Georgia’s public fishing areas. Additionally, he will oversee the drafting of fishing regulations statewide.
“I look forward to the experience and knowledge that Clint Peacock will bring to this role as Chief of the Fisheries Management Section,” said Chris Harper, WRD Division Director. “His years of service has more than prepared him to be a leader and continue to move the Fisheries section forward with the great work they are doing.”
Clint Peacock joined WRD as a Fisheries Biologist at the Go Fish Education Center in 2011. There he oversaw hatchery production of a variety of species, helped maintain the aquariums, and assisted with several statewide projects. Following a promotion to Assistant Chief in 2020, his day-to-day work has focused on the administration of the Fisheries Management Section. This includes overseeing the Section budget, serving as federal aid coordinator, working with staff and universities to develop research projects, working with legislative and regulatory issues, and a variety of other responsibilities. His experience working on statewide, regional, and national issues has prepared him well to lead the Fisheries Section.
Peacock holds a master’s in Aquaculture and Fisheries from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, and a bachelors from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He lives near Athens with his wife and son.
