Public Hearing Scheduled Regarding Fishing Regulations on Lake Lindsay Grace

SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. (7/1/2013)

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division is proposing changes to the current largemouth bass length limit on Lake Lindsay Grace in Wayne County.  This proposed change will be the main topic at an upcoming public hearing.

The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10 at the Wayne County Commissioner’s Meeting Room (341 East Walnut Street, Jesup, GA).  Attendance from local anglers and other interested parties is encouraged as public input is an important and valuable part of the rule-making process.

Based on a year-long study completed by the Wildlife Resources Division, Fisheries Management Section, the proposed 15-22 inch protective slot limit is aimed at increasing the number of trophy bass available while only slightly reducing the number of fish available to harvest.

Anyone attending the meeting is welcome to provide statements or comments, either orally or in writing. Statements should be concise to permit everyone an opportunity to speak. Participants should register upon arrival and notify the registering official of their intent to give a statement.

Those unable to attend a meeting may submit input electronically at www.gofishgeorgia.com/fishing/proposedregulations or in writing by July 30, 2013.  Written statements should be mailed to:

GA DNR, Wildlife Resources Division, Fisheries Management Section; Attn: Matt Thomas; 2070 U.S. Highway 278, S.E.; Social Circle, Georgia 30025.

These meetings sites are accessible to people with physical disabilities.  To request sign language interpretation or other auxiliary aids, contact Matt Thomas at (770) 918-6406 no later than July 5, 2013.
