Boating - Stephen C. Foster State Park

Stephen C. Foster State Park is in the heart of the Okefenokee Swamp. From our dock / boat ramp on Jones Island, boaters can explore over 15 miles of day-use trails. Billy’s Island is located 2 miles from our boat ramp and is only accessible by water. From a small dock, guests can access a 1-mile trail loop that passes a Native American ceremonial mound, remnants of the logging industry, and a small pioneer cemetery.

Visitors using personal vessels are required to register at the trading post or boat ramp. No motors over 10 HP.

Neither private nor rental watercrafts can take pets into the swamp.

Motorboat rentals are first come, first served.

All boaters must comply with Georgia Boating Safety Laws which can be found via the “Boating at Georgia State Parks” link below. Children must be at least 3 years old and minors ages 3-11 must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. There is a maximum of two children between the ages of 3 and 5 allowed aboard jon boats.
