Fishing - Fort Mountain State Park

Fort Mountain Logo

Fishing for largemouth, bluegill, shellcrackers and channel catfish is provided by 17-acre Fort Mountain Lake. Some fishing access is offered from the hiking trail that runs around the lake. Notable spots for bank fishing are along the dam on the west end of the lake and the cove with a picnic shelter to the south of the dam. On the north side of the lake, just east of the boat rental dock, the shore drops quickly to deeper water. As you move east into the adjacent cove, bass and bluegills can be found on a shallower flat. During spring, this may also be an area for bedding fish. Non-motorized boats are allowed on the lake, though there is not a boat ramp. Boats are available for rent seasonally. (Information provided by OnTheFlySouth.com.)
