Note: A camper's spot will only be held for 2 weeks without payment and/or registration paperwork. Forms can be turned in the first day of camp or mailed in with a check or scanned and emailed to Kimberly.Clements@dnr.ga.gov. Credit card payment can be made from the events tab of The MEEC Facebook page, by credit card in the doubleknot system, or a check/money order made out to DNR/MEEC can be dropped off or mailed to 4695 Fish Hatchery Rd. S.E., Dearing, GA 30808.
Spring Break Camps
April 3rd - April 6th
It’s that time again to think about Spring Break! The MEEC will be hosting four, half-day camps for 2023.
Pick and choose which day camp(s) your child would be interested in for the week of April 3rd.
Camp will be from 9am to noon. For children in 3rd grade to 8th grade.

Day 1, Monday: Fishing & Hiking
9am to noon Monday
Campers will be introduced to the sport of fishing. Opportunity to fish for catfish using either casting rods or the cane poles the campers will be making. Campers will learn about Channel Catfish and the McDuffie Fish Hatchery. Campers will tour the Discovery Room to learn about native Georgia wildlife and take a hike in the swamp.

Day 2, Tuesday: Fishing & Archery
9am to noon Tuesday
Campers will be introduced to the sport of fishing. Opportunity to fish for catfish using either casting rods or the cane poles the campers will be making. Campers will learn about Channel Catfish and the McDuffie Fish Hatchery. Campers will tour the Discovery Room to learn about native Georgia wildlife and participate in NASP (National Archery in the School Program) Archery.

Day 3, Wednesday: Fishing, Water Quality, and Invertebrates Day
9am to noon Wednesday
Campers will be introduced to the sport of fishing. Opportunity to fish for catfish using either casting rods or the cane poles the campers will be making. Campers will learn about Channel Catfish and the McDuffie Fish Hatchery. Campers will tour the Discovery Room to learn about native Georgia wildlife and learn about what is in the water. Campers will collect water samples to learn how to check for the health of the water. They will learn about macro and micro invertebrates using nets and microscopes.

Day 4, Thursday, Fishing & Geocaching
9am to noon Thursday
Campers will be introduced to the sport of fishing. Opportunity to fish for catfish using either casting rods or the cane poles the campers will be making. Campers will learn about Channel Catfish and the McDuffie Fish Hatchery. Campers will tour the Discovery Room to learn about native Georgia wildlife and learn about what is in the water. Campers will learn about Geocaching and participate in a MEEC Geocache activity using handheld GPS units. Campers will take a hike on the longleaf pine trail and locate the geocache hidden there.

Summer Camps
Each half day will start with an activity like Archery, hiking, geocaching, microinvertabrate lab, etc. and the second half of the morning will be fishing in the KFE ponds.
