Having a pet fish, snail, snake, or other animal can certainly be enjoyable and exotic non-native species can be intriguing to own. However, you must be a responsible pet owner. Should you ever desire to get rid of your non-native pet, NEVER DUMP YOUR AQUARIUM OUTSIDE! Releasing pets into neighborhood ponds, local streams/lakes, or other waterbodies will result in that animal/plant competing with native species for limited resources, thus causing harm to those natives. For non-native pets you no longer want, contact your local pet store to return the animal or contact your local GADNR office.
