Museum Tour and Way of Life Demonstration, Grades K-12

The museum tells the story and history of Kolomoki Mounds State Historic Site. It includes artifacts found on the site along with effigy pots excavated from the mounds. There is a 12-minute film that explains the story of what archaeologists believe happened during early years and what was found through extensive research of the area. You will also be able to view the inside of a burial mound (mound E) which was excavated in the late 1940s. The museum also has a gift shop for that perfect souvenir to remind you of your trip to this very special place.

After the museum tour, you can gather around an outside amphitheater for an interpretive lesson on the Kolomoki people’s way of life, complete with an interactive Q&A session following the demonstration.
