Fishing - Florence Marina State Park

Florence Marina Logo

Positioned on Walter F. George Reservoir (aka Lake Eufaula), Florence Marina is the gateway to some largemouth bass action on the upper end of the reservoir. Boaters have access to a deep-water marina with ramp and dockage slips. A lighted fishing pier and fish cleaning station are also available. A bait shop sells gas and crickets, minnows and worms spring through fall. Largemouth tend to be along the shore during the spring months, moving offshore to deeper water as the weather heats up. Other areas to target in the summer are the old creek-bed ledges at the mouth of Grassy Creek on the Georgia side and Little Barbour Creek on the Alabama side. These areas can be good during the spring for spawning crappie around downed trees. Hybrid and striped bass may also be moving up the Chattahoochee River on their instinctive spawning runs. Catfish angling around the park can be successful as well. No fishing in the basin. (Information provided by OnTheFlySouth.com.)
