Scouts love State Parks and State Parks love scouts! Here at FD Roosevelt State Park, we offer Boy Scout merit badge programs, Cub Scout adventure programs, Girl Scout badge programs, volunteer hours and opportunities for Eagle Scout projects. Boy Scout Merit Badges

Our merit badge programs are led by professionally trained Interpretive Rangers. Basic Merit Badge Program cost is $60 for 5 scouts. Each additional scout is $10 per person.

Merit Badges Offered* with requirements fulfilled:

  • Archery – R.1-4 (all)
  • Bird Study - R.1-4, R.6-11, partial R.5
  • Hiking – R.1-3, partial R.4 and R.6, supplemental information R.4-6
  • Reptile & Amphibian Study - R.1-7, R.9-10, partial R.8

Cub Scout Adventures

Our adventure programs are led by professionally trained Interpretive Rangers. Adventure Program cost is $60 for 6 scouts. Each additional scout is $8 per person.

Adventures Offered* with requirements fulfilled:

  • Floats and Boats – R.1-7 (all; Adventure Requirement Complete)
  • Tigers in the Wild - R.1-4, R.6 (Adventure Requirement Complete)
  • Paws on the Path – R.1-6 (Adventure Requirement Complete)
  • Spirit of the Water – R.1-5 (all; Adventure Requirement Complete)
  • Bear Necessities – R.1-5 (Adventure Requirement Complete)

Girl Scout Badges

Our badge programs are led by professionally trained Interpretive Rangers. Basic Badge Program cost is $60 for 6 scouts. Each additional scout is $8 per person. Daisy Programs, which last less than 1 hour, are $40 for 6 scouts. Each additional Daisy scout is $5 per person.

  • Art Maker – R.1-3 (all; Requirements Complete)
  • Outdoor Adventurer - R.1-5 (all; Requirements Complete)
  • Art Creator – R.1-5 (all; Requirements Complete)

  • Flowers – R.1-5 (all; Requirements Complete)
  • Archery – R.1-5 (all; Requirements Complete)
  • Outdoor Art Apprentice – R.1-5 (all; Requirements Complete)

* The Interpretive Ranger can conduct other badge/adventure programs upon request, depending on the subject matter and the time given to prepare. If a full merit badge program is not feasible, the Interpretive Ranger can provide individual guidance/counseling on the topic. Some programs may require additional fees if there is a material cost involved.

Scout Badge/Adventure FAQ

Q: How early in advance do I need to book the program?
A: We require a minimum of one month’s notice to schedule your badge/adventure program. However, our calendars can fill up quickly, so we recommend the sooner the better.

Q: When is payment due?
A: A full payment is due at the time of booking in order to reserve your date. Payments can be made over the phone utilizing a credit/debit card or in person. All checks must be made payable to FD Roosevelt State Park.

Q: Who will be leading the program for my scout group?
A: One of the professionally trained Interpretive Rangers will be leading the program of your choice.

Q: What if my troop wants assistance or a full program for a badge/adventure not listed above?
A: The Interpretive Ranger can conduct other badge/adventure programs upon request, depending on the subject matter and the time given to prepare. The subject matter of this park relates to nature, outdoor activities, and 1920-1940s history. The time given to prepare a program can vary, but 2 months in advance of program date is preferred. If a full merit badge program is not feasible, the Interpretive Ranger may be able to provide individual guidance/counseling on the topic. Some programs may require additional fees if there is a material cost involved.
