The purpose of hunting regulations is to manage Georgia’s game birds and game animals according to principles of sound wildlife management and to meet public objectives for use of these renewable natural resources.
These proposed changes affect rules pertaining to permit requirements for hunting deer with dogs; pursuit of bears with dogs on wildlife management areas, other state lands, and federal wildlife areas; wildlife management area trout streams; public fishing areas; and the Georgia outdoor recreation pass. Proposed changes to the existing rules reflect the need to achieve consistency with statutory changes associated with HB 208 (License Fee Bill). The comment period for these proposed regulations closed on May 31, 2017.

The Wildlife Resources Division and Coastal Resources Divisions are proposing several amendments to Commercial Fishing Rules 391-2-4 and 391-4-3. House Bill 208, signed into law by Governor Deal on April 25, 2017, resulted in significant changes to Title 27. These changes include the creation of a seafood dealer license and commercial species endorsements for the personal commercial fishing license; both of which will allow for improved management of commercial fishing in Georgia. The proposed amendments will align the regulatory definition of a seafood dealer with the legislative definition, create a definition for landed, modify reporting requirements and create 12 species endorsements required of commercial fishermen harvesting saltwater species. Three commercial species endorsements will also be created for commercial freshwater fishing in Rule 391-4-3.

The purpose of these regulations is to establish procedures for the export, farming and sale of native fresh-water turtles pursuant to O.C.G.A. 27-3-19.1. The following regulations prescribe the rules and regulations necessary to administer the export, farming, and sale of native fresh-water turtles under sound wildlife management practices.
