Employment Information FAQs

How do I advertise a vacancy on the DNR Job Vacancy Announcement?

The hiring location must coordinate the advertising of the vacant position with the Division Personnel Representative who will submit a Job Vacancy Announcement Request Form to the Office of Human Resources Employment Services Unit. The Employment Services Unit will review the request and, if approved, post on the DNR Job Vacancy Announcement.

A list of Division Personnel Representatives is located on the DNR Intranet in the Human Resources section under Contacts.

Do I need to interview each applicant that submits an application/resume for the advertised vacant position?

No. To be considered for a position, applicants MUST meet the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Vacancy Announcement. Applicants must be screened by the hiring manager to ensure they meet the Minimum Qualifications. Preferred Qualifications can then be used to narrow down the applicant pool.

Please note that ONLY those applicants that meet the Minimum Qualifications can be considered.

What is the difference between minimum qualifications and preferred qualifications?

Minimum qualifications are the minimally acceptable qualifications an applicant MUST meet in to be considered for a position. Preferred qualifications are the qualifications, in addition to the minimum qualifications that are desirable for this particular position.

What information should be included in my selection package?

The selection package should include the following information:

  • All applications/resumes received from applicants of the announced vacancy
  • List of all applicants
  • List of applicants who meet the minimum qualifications
  • List of applicants who did not meet the minimum qualifications
