Operated by Wilkinson County, Balls Ferry State Park provides access to a variety of recreation on the Oconee River, including fishing, boating, paddling and tubing. Amenities include a boat ramp, picnic pavilion and walking trails. Quota hunts are available in season. Camping is available nearby at High Falls and Indian Springs state parks.

The Lakes Golf Course was designed by Steve Burnes and features native sand for the many bunkers and waste areas. This coastal Georgia course has three large lakes and is very close to the Okefenokee Swamp. Popular for great course conditions and mild weather. Voted the 2011 "Hook A Kid On Golf" Best New Site of the Year in the Nation. Voted 2009 Best Municipal Golf Course in Georgia by Golf Digest.
