In addition to special events, Georgia offers a Free Fishing Day in honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day on Sept. 22, 2012.
On this day, Georgia residents do not need a fishing license or a trout license. They can fish on any public waters in the state including lakes, streams, ponds and Public Fishing Areas (PFA). Residents do not need to obtain a Wildlife Managment Area (WMA) license to fish on a PFA, WMA or on Waters Creek on this day. Take this opportunity to introduce someone to the fun of fishing!
