The boat ramp at James Dykes Memorial Park, located on the Ocmulgee River, is closed through December 20 for improvements.
“If the weather cooperates, we expect that the boat ramp will re-open to trailer launches on December 20 and will be fully operational on December 23,” said Bryon McCarley, statewide boating access coordinator with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division.
Improvement work includes removing the two deteriorating boat ramps, restoring the bank where the south ramp was located and replacing the north ramp. Additionally, stairs will be added to improve foot access to the replacement ramp.
