Echeconnee Creek WMA

Located near Macon, Echeconnee Creek Wildlife Management Area covers 690 acres. This WMA provides archery hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and small game. Public access to Ocmulgee River tract is only by boat. No camping allowed on the property.

Echeconnee Creek WMA is made up of two different tracts:

Marben PFA

Marben Public Fishing Area is located within Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center and Clybel WMA, a 6,400-acre area with 20 different ponds, ranging in size from 1 to 95 acres. The ponds are intensively managed for fishing and offer anglers the opportunity to fish for Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Crappie, and Redear Sunfish. Ponds are specially equipped with fish attractors consisting of PVC pipes and other components to allow those fishing from the shore ample opportunity.

McDuffie PFA

Located in Georgia's upper coastal plain, McDuffie Public Fishing Area offers anglers 7 ponds ranging in size from 5 to 37 acres. Visitors may fish for Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, and Redear Sunfish while enjoying the longleaf pines and sandy soils.

This area also offers opportunities for dove and waterfowl hunting. Waterfowl hunters must check kiosk at entrance gate for information on which ponds are open. Please check the Hunting Regulations for more information.

Evans County PFA

Evans County Public Fishing Area is a 372-acre area encompassing 3 separate lakes, each offering unique fishing and outdoor opportunities to visitors. Bidd Sands Lake is the largest lake and consists of large expanses of open water and areas with dense lily pads. Bidd Sands offers excellent opportunities for Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Bream and Catfish.

Sandhills WMA: East

Sandhills Wildlife Management Area is located in Taylor County on the north side of GA Highway 96 and about 2.5 miles west of the square in Butler. This 892-acre property offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and small game. No camping is allowed.
