Ruffed Grouse Hunter's Survey

Ruffed Grouse Hunter Survey Introduction

Thank you for your interest in participating in our ruffed grouse hunter survey.

The ruffed grouse hunter survey is a critical component of our long-term grouse monitoring efforts. Information provided by you provides us with crucial data such as flush rates, and age and sex ratios, which allow us to monitor population trends and better manage our ruffed grouse population.  The more information, the better!

To participate, print out this form (Adobe Acrobat Reader required) and fill out the form each time you hunt grouse, whether you are successful or not.  Also, please mail one wing, a few rump feathers, and one central tail feather (if your not saving the fan) in the enclosed envelope each time you harvest a bird. To get envelopes please call Scott Frazier (Gainesville office (770) 535-5700). Use a separate envelope for each bird. If you use a different envelope than the ones provided, please provide the same information requested on the pre-printed envelopes. Please do NOT use plastic bags. Plastic bags trap moisture and the feathers will rot. If you need more cards or envelopes, just give us a call or drop a note in the mail. Please send the survey card(s) back at the end of the season, even if you did not grouse hunt.

We wish each of you a successful hunting season. Hopefully, with your assistance, we can better manage Georgia's ruffed grouse.  Again, please encourage hunters who are not participating to do so. We only have a small mailing list so if you know anyone who hunts grouse in Georgia, please have them contact us. Thank you for your assistance. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
