Get ready middle Georgia…for trout fishing! Now, most anglers in the state know that you are not going to find a trout fishing opportunity below the Chattahoochee River in the Atlanta area. But, as a special wintertime treat, the Go Fish Education Center is going to host a trout angling opportunity at their on-site casting pond.
“We are excited to offer such a unique opportunity in this part of the state and hope that families in Houston County and the surrounding area come to take advantage of this event during our special holiday hours,” says Go Fish Education Center Manager Jeremy Wixson.
Trout, raised at the Go Fish Hatchery, have been stocked in the pond. The Go Fish Education Center will provide all rods, tackle and bait. Additional species available include hybrid bass, catfish and bluegill. All fishing is catch and release.
Fishing will be available during Go Fish Education Center special holiday open hours of Dec. 27-31, 2011 (9 am – 5 pm). Guests also can fish during the Center’s regular operating hours (Fridays & Saturdays 9 am – 5 pm and Sundays 1 pm – 5 pm) which resume the following week. The Center will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Anglers 16 or older will need a fishing license, which is available to purchase online at www.gofishgeorgia.com/recreational-licenses , by phone at 1.800.266.3661 or on site if needed.
