Fishing opportunity for kids 15 and younger to fish in specially stocked ponds and take part in additional activities such as target shoot & archery.

This is also a Free Fishing Day for Georgia residents - adults 16 and older may fish public waters without having to purchase fishing, trout, or WMA licenses.  (All other fishing regulations will apply.)

Participants will not be required to purchase a GORP pass to participate in this event.

McDuffie Public Fishing Area, 4695 Fish Hatchery Rd., Dearing GA


From Thomson, GA:  Take Hwy 278 East to Ellington Airline Rd.

Merge right on Ellington Airline Rd and continue 2.8 miles.

Make a sharp right turn onto Fish Hatchery Rd to Public Fishing Area entrance gate.

Follow signs to Kids Fishing ponds.

Additional Information

Youngsters 15 and under must register at tent before fishing and check out when finished fishing. Participants should bring their own tackle and  bait. Please note that LIVE bait is NOT permitted on the Public Fishing Area. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

THIS DAY IS ALSO A FREE FISHING DAY FOR GEORGIA RESIDENTS!  Adults (16 and over), bring your own gear to fish McDuffie's regular ponds. (Adults are not permitted to fish in Kids Fishing ponds.) Fishing licenses and WMA licenses will NOT be required for Georgia's adults to fish in Georgia's public waters on this day.
