Biologists with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division have issued the 2017 dove field forecast covering wildlife management areas and additional dove fields throughout the state.
The forecast identifies available crops and anticipates the expected conditions for opening day, noting if fields are in good, poor or fair condition. Hunters can utilize this online resource as they plan opening day activities.
QUOTA HUNTS: Many of the fields listed in the links below are quota hunts. Apply for dove field quota hunts through the Go Outdoors Georgia system. (deadline to apply is Aug. 15).
Some of the properties in the linked list above are privately owned but made available through a program called the Voluntary Public Access (VPA)/Habitat Incentive Program.
- Hunters are urged to contact the local Region Game Management office for the latest conditions of a particular field before visiting.
- Check back later for 2017 dates that VPA dove fields will be open.
For more information on dove hunting rules and regulations, public dove fields and conditions, or adult/child dove hunts, hunters should review the 2017-2018 Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations.
Please note that there are special regulations for some specific dove fields, including Appling County, Laurens County VPA, Calloway Farms/Tattnall County VPA and Indian Ford Dove Field. Check back later for the 2017 regulations.
