Statewide UPS Contract: Express Mail and Package Delivery

For more information about the Statewide UPS Contract, please contact Jeffrey Gibson (404 676-6776).

The State of Georgia and the United Parcel Service (UPS) have entered into a contract to provide incentives to state employees in the use of UPS services. The contract, effective May 2003, can be found athttp://www.doas.state.ga.us/, Procurement, Statewide Contracts, #S-030645: Express Mail & Package Delivery. This contract offers substantial savings in discounts off regular UPS rates.

This table shows the delivery type, standard UPS rate, UPS discount percentage, and UPS discounted rate:

UPS Next Day Air Letter* (Delivery by 10:30am) $12.75 50% $6.38
1 lb. UPS Next Day Air (Delivery by 10:30am) $14.75 50% $7.38
1 lb. UPS Next Day Air Saver (Delivery by 3:00pm) $12.75 46% $6.88
1 lb. Second Day Delivery $7.20 30% $5.04
1 lb. Standard Delivery $3.39 15% $2.88

Implementing this contract will depend on the current setups throughout the state for UPS shipping and receiving. In the locations already having UPS accounts with daily pickups, providing the account numbers to Barbara Crummer at bcrummer@ups.com will qualify those sites for use of the agreement terms within five days. For new account setup, please use that same e-mail address. And in either case, Ms. Crummer will need:

  1. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources;
  2. your name;
  3. your location with full address;
  4. the approximate number of items you expect to send daily, weekly, or monthly.

 The latter will determine if UPS will service you by daily pickup, drop box, call up on the internet, or however; you will be advised of your options. Twin Towers associates are permitted to use the Towers Mailroom account by contacting them directly. You may ship through the mailroom, use the dropbox on the Balcony Level by 5pm for Express, or call up at 1-800-742-5877 or http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/index.jsx for Express, all using the one account number. As with all other Express carriers, a pickup fee will be assessed if you opt for call up.

Inasmuch as the Department of Administrative Services has declared this a mandatory contract, all authorized personnel are strongly urged to take full advantage of the provisions set forth in the contract. At UPS for customer service, ordering supplies, billing questions, and account set up please contact:
