Burke County VPA is a 354 acre area that will provide both rabbit and bird dog training opportunities.  

Hunt Dates and Information:

  • Rabbit: Rabbit hunting allowed every Wednesday and Saturday during the statewide season
  • Bird Dog Training: Bird dog training allowed every day (EXCEPT Wednesdays and Saturdays) during the statewide rabbit season.

  • From Augusta: Take I-520 (Bobby Jones Expressway) East to Exit 9 (GA Hwy 56/Mike Padgett Hwy); turn right and take Hwy 56 South for 13 miles; turn left onto Collins Road; travel 0.4 mile on Collins Road to VPA entrance on right. 
  • From Waynesboro: Take East 6th Street (GA Hwy 56 North); travel 12 miles and turn right onto Collins Road; travel 0.4 miles on Collins Road to VPA entrance on right.

Voluntary Public Access Area 

Burke County VPA is a Voluntary Public Access (VPA) property. Since 2014, the Wildlife Resources Division has been able to enhance and add to its WMA program through additional temporary agreements with private landowners for public hunting opportunities thanks to a USDA grant.
